Thailand Tariffs to the United States
Thailand is a meaningful sourcing destination for automotive parts, electronics assembly, processed seafood, and rubber goods. Thai-origin imports face the base HTS rate plus the IEEPA country tariff. Like India, Thailand was a GSP beneficiary until the program lapsed at the end of 2020.
IEEPA country tariff
Thailand is subject to the IEEPA country tariff. Total duty on Thai-origin industrial goods is typically lower than the Chinese stack but no longer trivial. Verify current rates with your customs broker before contracting.
GSP status
GSP expired at the end of 2020 and has not been renewed. Thai goods that previously entered duty-free under GSP now pay the base HTS rate. Some Congressional proposals have offered retroactive GSP renewal — check current legislation before assuming GSP coverage.
AD/CVD coverage
AD/CVD orders cover certain Thai steel products (including welded carbon steel pipe and hot-rolled steel), hardwood plywood, frozen warmwater shrimp, and other categories. Search the ITA database for current coverage and supplier-specific rates.
Industries where Thailand is competitive
Hard disk drives and electronics assembly, automotive parts (especially for Japanese OEMs operating in Thailand), processed and frozen seafood, natural rubber and rubber products, and rice. CBP origin scrutiny on Thai assembly using Chinese components has increased since 2019.

- Does GSP still cover Thai imports?
- No. GSP expired at the end of 2020. Thai goods that previously entered duty-free under GSP now pay the base HTS rate. Watch for Congressional renewal.
- What AD/CVD orders cover Thai products?
